I guess Night of the Creeps and Monster Squad aren't good things. Good to know.

I did not see Monster Squad as a kid. I saw it in my early 20s, and I think it's pretty great. I enjoy it more than The Goonies, for example.
Replying to @DeadNameMovie
Yikes. That's a no for me, friend.
Replying to @DeadNameMovie
I mean, sure, it looks great. But I still enjoy Monster Squad more than any movie you've mentioned with the exception of Gremlins. 🤷
Replying to @DeadNameMovie
Oh, and I guess I might double down and say that I thought their Predator movie was pretty funny. So I had a good time, and that counted for something. Kind of wish they'd release the original cut.
Replying to @DeadNameMovie
Yes, I've always disliked Poltergeist. From when I was a kid till now. And I keep revisiting it every 5 years or so just to make sure. I do sort of enjoy Poltergeist 3 though, despite its very obvious shortcomings.
Replying to @DeadNameMovie
It's no more stupid than your average action flick. Sure, that & tourettes depiction was a bit cringy, but there was more in it that I thought was funny.

You might be thinking of Doom. ROTT is written in Watcom C and Turbo Assembler, originally branching off Wolfenstein 3D code, which was in Turbo C. Certainly x86.

I actually now realized that it was an option in every game except Wolfenstein.

In all of the games low detail is actually x4 strech, but when shrunk to the lowest size, it's only x2. In ROTT medium is x2, low is x4.

I think our resident 45-year-old civil servant @Bhaal_Spawn might know the place. 🤔
I think it's funny that this scene from The Blues Brothers (not included in the final theatrical cut) of Elwood storing the car in very close proximity to a train power transformer was somehow meant to explain the car's magical abilities in the final act. 😂

This is probably the only bit in the Extended Cut I don't really care for. Everything else that got added only made the film better. Especially the full length John Lee Hooker song.

PC Data was considered extremely reliable. In fact it was *the* source back in the day as it pulled numbers directly from retailers. Keep in mind that by that point budget re-releases and OEMs of the game would also be included.

"Very few games have been able to transport the player to a world so believable that the boundary between the screen and ‘real’ world fades to near nothingness."
This is once again a lesson that perception and memory can be extremely unreliable.

Regarding last RT: Interesting numbers. So Commodore sold around 16 million of their machines during the decade they were around. Combined. Meanwhile Microsoft sold 100 million copies of MS-DOS between 1982 and 1992. PC clone domination.
