I gotta add that Lockshin's film is the first adaptation I fully enjoyed. All the other ones are kind of a mess, each in a different way. Lockshin's version is, I think, pretty clearly inspired by Petrovic's film. But it manages to still stick to a lot of the source despite reframing it. And Lockshin had to leave Russia as well.

Both Microsoft and Apple ripped off GUI from Xerox, so it most likely would have happened anyway.
Replying to @vedanshchn, @KaizoWarning, @digitaldetox_9 and @theapplehub
"When GUI caught up, MS did it." citation needed. There are actual previews of Windows that one can look up from 1983. How much earlier did they have to be? Mac wasn't even announced then yet.

A YouTube video isn't a source, my guy. I'm not denying that Microsoft's business plans are questionable at best, but staying on topic of just GUI, no, I can't agree with your assessment.
Replying to @vedanshchn, @KaizoWarning, @digitaldetox_9 and @theapplehub
As someone who makes YouTube videos, I would be hard pressed to accept a YouTube video as a citation source. If it was an interview of some kind, or an upload of historical material, then sure. But definitely not a video essay.

Just make a new game instead. To properly turn DNF into something worthwhile pretty much every aspect of it needs to be adjusted or changed entirely. At this point might as well just make a new Duke game instead. https://x.com/DukeAtomicTimes/status/1785478053172224281
Replying to @dosnostalgic
I am still very much of the opinion that Duke can get redemption as a game character by the means of...
- a game with an actual good and *fun* gameplay, as opposed to whatever DNF was.
- a story with *actual* comedic writing, as opposed to whatever DNF was.
Replying to @dosnostalgic

https://x.com/dosnostalgic/status/1756121050612453828?t=fx3ombuvB9_2g6ULRMJc7w&s=19
I actually always thought that the plot of Duke being a relic of the past in a modern world is a losing formula. No. Make him a Johnny Bravo with a gun. He was already that in the older games, no need to make him the butt of the joke. He's a himbo who loves guns & tits & is cool. https://x.com/jonjones/status/1785510363741790382
Replying to @BeardedLuchador
No. I honestly don't understand why this is most people's go to.
Replying to @BeardedLuchador
DNF Duke is not the original Duke. It was basically a new character. I know the game assassinated Duke more than anything else, but we don't have to base our whole memory of him on it.
Replying to @BeardedLuchador
People understand the concept of a caricature still, believe it or not. You can just do it. You just have to do it in a way that's not crass, and not, you know, open your game with Duke being blown by the Olsen twins stand ins.
