I mean, 100s of megabytes worth of patches point to the contrary, don't you think? 🤔
But yes, games generally worked out of the box, but often were plagued by hardware incompatibilities. The amount of issues largely depended on what kind of a machine you got.

CGI is, very literally, Computer Generated Imagery. How was the imagery that is playing in said projection, especially considering that it isn't a recording but rather a real time rendering that is adjusting to the camera angle, generated?

Having fun with "Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story". A bit of a bummer about 16 bit stuff - Atari ST emulation is completely absent. The games listed as "Atari ST" are the Jaguar ports, and the very cool looking Trip-A-Thon is present only as a video and promo/included materials.

Yes, if you're a younger millennial, you've probably avoided the DOS era altogether, even with its fairly long tail. But I feel like even they could figure it out since they'd still have a general idea of how OSes work, having still learned on a Windows 9x.

Now, a grown adult (Zoomer) told me recently they didn't know what either a directory or a folder was, and that was pretty terrifying. But I still don't blame them. It's a failure of education as well as phones & modern OSes endless obfuscating everything.

That is fair to say about Windows 1 - 3.x, but that's not the case with Windows 9X. It's a common misconception. In Windows 9x DOS is used as a bootloader to start, but after Windows' kernel takes over, original DOS is unloaded, & afterwards Win kernel takes care of 16 bit stuff

Exactly the same as in DSS, because both its sfx player code & quality of the samples don't account for anything better. Also the game doesn't support Covox out of the box, you need to run a tsr that enables it.

Ok, the buffer doesn't make the game sound better, it's just makes it easier to program. HOWEVER, the buffer also forces the device to a certain rate. On DSS you cannot physically produce sound at a rater different from 8Khz. On Covox you can do *whatever* as long as (cont.)

... the CPU allows it. Like you've seen me play a 44Khz MP3 on my Pentium 2 in that video. Games are, however, on a case by case basis. But most games don't support both devices anyway. Plus Covox design is easily cloneable, hence devices with better components than original.

I don't quite understand why depopulation conspiracy theories are so popular while human population almost doubled in the last 40 years. 🤔 Like, that's not a very effective depopulation then. 🤷

If Gates is so good at depopulation, why did we go from 4.5 billion people to 8 billion in the last 40 years? 🤔 Sounds like he really sucks at it then, if you ask me.

Yes. Depopulation conspiracies usually involve rich people orchestrating long term plans that result in mass death. Often there's a large overlap with anti-vax prone, since vaccines are often cited as one of the means of depopulation.

Are we concerned? It's not really a great mystery. Economic situation and future prospects aren't great for younger people, so they are not having kids. I'm not even all that young, and I don't have any children. But I don't see any governments trying to improve that.
