As much as I liked The Raid 2 I only ever saw it once, in theater when it came out. The Raid: Redemption I've seen a good dozen times. Something about it. The Raid 2 is bigger and crazier, but something about how lean the first movie is makes it a lot more appealing to me.

It is subjective, of course. I don't even think the Amiga uses that many colors beyond 16, it's just more of the fact that it can *choose* colors that are more pleasant. EGA palette is not great.

Replying to @rosagi_99
You're misunderstanding what I'm talking about.

There's nothing to override because OPL doesn't have MIDI instruments. OPL doesn't accept MIDI data. Hence when one wants to play a MIDI using an OPL they have to implement the actual player in software. That goes for *everything*. Timing, instruments, commands, whatever.

Yes. If it's voices you want, go for the DOS CD. Personally I prefer the original floppy DOS version. It just feels more pure. If you're emulating any of the DOS versions get yourself an emulator that can handle AdLib Gold for the music. You won't get better than that.
Replying to @ArjAndInCharj
Colors reduced (256 vs 32), zoom-in effects & transitions are gone, other small things everywhere, etc.
The music was composed for an OPL3 (AdLib Gold in that particular case) and the conversion for the OPN is... well, sometimes it's okay, other times not so much.
Replying to @ArjAndInCharj
(Offtopic, conversions from floppy to CD vary on a case by case basis. In case of Dune one can easily argue that because no cuts have been made, & additions only enhance the experience, the CD version is the superior one. That's not the case for every game though.)
Replying to @ArjAndInCharj
Another thing to keep in mind is that Dune was always made to be controlled with a mouse. It can be awkward with a gamepad. There's also an issue of the Sega CD version using almost entirety of the memory when saving, but if you're emulating that's obviously not a concern.
Replying to @AdrianMNeville
Yep. I prefer the floppy version over the CD, even though I really do like the voices.

You can disable voices in every LucasArts adventure, and original release of DOTT doesn't have any voices after the intro, but even the intro is optional.

I have no idea what's that supposed to mean.

.... me personally?
Replying to @SantorioG
I have no idea how it got to this, but all I'm saying is that as a Soviet person I've seen plenty of Yugoslavian films, some good, others not so good. And a 95 min M&M adaptation looks sus to me. But hey, if I won't like it I won't feel like it wasted too much of my time 🤷

Replying to @SantorioG
Is this gif a social cue? Because I definitely don't understand it.
Replying to @SantorioG
That's too new.
Replying to @SantorioG
Yes. But also: videogame references ≠ social cues.

It's like what you see above, but better. Better graphics, better music, better controls. Everything had to be scaled down in order to get it running on the Sega CD.
