Not really. Windows 9x kernel was fully its own, it was just meant to handle both 16 and 32 bit stuff for maximum compatibility, hence some of the instability.
Here an article by one of the guys who was actually responsible for implementing it:
https://devblogs.microsoft.com/oldnewthing/20071224-00/?p=24063
Replying to @GrunzBabe and @Truthinator5
"Early Windows versions" as in the first two. This is 9x we're talking about. NT already existed to fill those features for those who needed them, but 95 was created precisely because general public didn't want to leave their plentiful 16 bit software behind. (1/2)
Replying to @GrunzBabe and @Truthinator5
(2/2) And not for nothing, just because an OS is unstable or not great in some aspects doesn't make it not an OS. It's still is one.

No, Monster Condo is Petersen. You pointed out 2 maps you didn't like, I pointed at 3 maps I liked. Was I supposed to list all his maps, or something? The point is the guy made most of the maps for the first two games, so saying "all those Sandy Petersen maps" is redundant.

This is work in progress, and I'm sure as usual for Nightdive remasters all enhancements are optional.

Oh no. 😱 Well now that you've said so, I'm changing my opinion on this game that isn't even out yet. 👍
Replying to @GmanLives
I'm better than okay. 👍
Replying to @GmanLives
Well, I already said I now think it really sucks, right? Thanks for opening my eyes to it, sir.
Replying to @GmanLives
My day is already pretty great, so it would honestly be pretty amazing if it got even better. Thank you.

These are promo shots released for the press, and I just reposted them here. I have no inside information about the game, or its current state of development. Because not even a release date has been announced, I assume that nothing seen here is in its final state.

So far that's been an option for every Nightdive remaster, so I would be quite surprised if this one was different.

He really gets a lot of mileage out of this "joke".

I am actually touching grass right now! It feels very nice. It's a nice breezy day today.

I mean, everything I said was true. Not sure what else you want me to say. 🤷♂️

I removed the post because I didn't want to read quote-tweets about how the remaster that doesn't end have a release date yet sucks all night, no other reason.
Replying to @RU5H___ and @Tacticolt8
Does even* have a release date yet.

It's a flip cover.
