The maps. While there are occasional flourishes, are the same. That means a single visual style of environments per deck. That makes very mazey maps confusing. No additions such as objective lists were made.

I still periodically stumble upon weird opinions about the original Prince of Persia, such as "it has terrible controls" or "bad level design" and I'm baffled every time because PoP has *great* controls, is extremely well designed, & is one of the most polished games of the era.
Replying to @dosnostalgic

Arkham Asylum has pretty great controls. Why can't controls in Dark Souls be the same, since we're picking just one acceptable scheme per entire genres apparently?
Replying to @ternox
Just because you personally don't like something, doesn't mean it's bad.
Replying to @ternox
That's not a real modern design principle. And again, it varies. Not every platformer game is the same. Not every third person action game is the same, hence different control schemes as well.

All that glitters is DOS
Replying to @KamenPhanto
PoP's controls are an integral part of its design. So the question is valid. There's no one size fits all control scheme per entire genres.
Replying to @KamenPhanto
That question is called "What if one game was, in fact, an entirely different game?" and that's a false dilemma if I ever saw one.
Replying to @KamenPhanto
I have no idea how you've managed to read that into my original argument. But now that you've added that take, I'd like to add that just because someone doesn't enjoy something, doesn't necessarily make it bad.
Replying to @KamenPhanto
If you go back to my original comment, there are actual quotes that I've given that i argue against. I don't care what one's taste is, but PoP, objectively, doesn't have "terrible" controls or "bad" level design.
Replying to @dosnostalgic
Actually, I think the world would be a better place if people said "I don't like it" instead of "this is bad" more often.

Replying to @GreyAlien
I'm not saying that PoP's controls are somehow *the* controls. They are prefect for the kind of game it is. And we know it because PoP 2 and 2007's PoP Classic exist. Both attempted changing the controls (one different ways) and both made the game worse.
LA Noire's facial animation tech was cool. Why don't other big games try it together with, you know, directing actors properly and not telling them to mug like they are in an early 90s FMV game?

It was okay. Had its moments, especially for a cheap flick. Wood fits the role well, but is upstaged by just about everyone else. The movie is surprisingly tame for its genre. And after the first act each scene lasts longer than needed, & the film drags despite its 95 min runtime https://x.com/dosnostalgic/status/1674429565945675779
