Controls are obviously brand new and modern in style.
The maps. While there are occasional flourishes, are the same. That means a single visual style of environments per deck. That makes very mazey maps confusing. No additions such as objective lists were made.

That's not a real modern design principle. And again, it varies. Not every platformer game is the same. Not every third person action game is the same, hence different control schemes as well.

I'm not saying that PoP's controls are somehow *the* controls. They are prefect for the kind of game it is. And we know it because PoP 2 and 2007's PoP Classic exist. Both attempted changing the controls (one different ways) and both made the game worse.

(Actually people have done that. A bunch of VR titles use a volumetric capture rig that capture a full body performance, and not just a face. I'm also fairly certain the upcoming VR remake of the 7th Guest is doing exactly that as well.)

Interestingly the 2004 version of the game actually comes with slightly better quality and resolution QuickTime clips. That means that someone out there is sitting on if not the source footage than at least an edited master tape or something similar.

The questions in the original Leisure Suit Larry weren't a copy protection, however the VGA remake did add an additional copy protection question that required a lookup in manual, and the game would exit instantly if you got it wrong.

Funny how everything feels super slow and sort of wrong just because everything got interpolated to modern frame rate. Animations aren't running at like 10 frames a second. 😄

I was talking the movement. Like before those particle explosions were moving something like 10 pixels at a time. Now they are moving through each frame AND at a resolution higher than that of original game, making them look too smooth & slow, even though the speed is the same
