I've said many times in the past that I thought that "Double Fine Adventure" was the most important documentary about gamedev. Having finished "PsychOdyssey," I think that title now belongs to it. Excellent stuff. I know 22 hours is a big commitment, but it's really worth it. https://x.com/dosnostalgic/status/1624132103209189382
Replying to @beastmoddr10 and @Gazondaily
No, it's separate brand new doc. Double Fine Adventure covers 2012 - 2015, and this one is 2015 - 2021. (One episode is essentially a shorter version of the Amnesia Fortnight 2017 movie, but that's it.)
Replying to @GAMINGBLOWS
No. I mean, yes, it can, but it would lose a lot of the impact, which is the important thing here.
Replying to @GAMINGBLOWS
And let me very clear: I *hate* long form things. I don't like when movies are over 2 hours long, and I do not watch tv series. But here a 6 year long process is covered. You have to get big chunks of meetings, production discussions, etc. because reducing them to just >
Replying to @GAMINGBLOWS
> sound bites and then cutting to arguments, interview bits, or someone quitting isn't the point. The point is to show the process, and in that way 22 hrs is a reasonable fraction.
Replying to @GAMINGBLOWS
Yes, which is why it's the most important doc about gamedev. It's not talking heads reminiscing about the past. You get to see decisions being made, and then you get to see the consequences of these decisions play out because sometimes they impact *years* of work.
