It's a $20 budget game. A more polished continuation of a damn good total conversion. It's not a run and gun fps, nor was it meant to be. If played like an underdeveloped sim of sorts, it plays well. Its levels are HUGE and fairly detailed consider what it's trying to pull off.

It's FM music, so I assume very little time has been put into converting the original game's OPL MIDI player into an OPN one, so frequencies that it generates are actually different from intended ones, hence why everything sounds off.

For some reason for intros and video comment sections they just used old shit digitized from tape. It was jarring even then. Because the actual episodes were all new, and I would argue in a sense better animation than the current show. They weren't rigged ToonBoom models.

It sort of weird. The 2011 show gets the animation better, but the backgrounds are too clean. The new show gets the backgrounds right with the painted look, but the animations are rigged models, as is the standard today. Still, something about the 2011 show felt off.

Chances that DOS runs your current version of Windows are pretty close to 0, unless you're maybe running Windows from 20+ years ago, & even then it wasn't technically the case, you just needed DOS to boot Windows. Windows kernel provides all disk & memory operations now.

"You can run Windows via command prompt" Eh, no you can not anymore. Windows has its own bootloader. And the command prompt that you get to use in Windows isn't DOS, nor does it actually have all capabilities of what command prompt used to have in earlier Windows.

It's not. The screenshot you posted is a Windows bootloader, which is not a DOS, and process separate from Windows, but still a part of the package. When you press enter it launches Windows Recovery, which is its own OS called WinPE, also not a DOS.

Knowing how assembler works gives you a better understanding of the relation between your higher level code, and what the CPU actually does. It can make you a better programmer.
Using a DOS emulator to teach that is actually easier for students. Not the most ideal way, but works.

$495 also appears to be the standard price of every Lotus 1-2-3 competitor that appeared afterwards, such as Microsoft Excel. The big exception was, as always, Borland who priced their Quattro package at a very affordable $195.

Not really. Windows 3.1 ran in protected mode already, that's why it required a minimum of a 386.

It sure was a cluster fuck, but that's how it achieved large adoption. All the backwards compatibility, decent stability, AND all the new Win32 features in one package. It's exactly what they needed to do to end the DOS era.

Yeah, Vista basically added all the new features that are accepted as completely normal parts of Windows today. I haven't seen my system crash more for the first 3 months in my entire life though. I'm pretty sure I had a crash at least a couple of times a week in the beginning.

It's literally in Overland's answer, if you actually read it. A clone of CP/M that Paterson wrote - QDOS/86-DOS, is exactly what Microsoft licensed, then hired Paterson to port from 8086 to 8088, and put out as PC-DOS/MS-DOS. Paterson wrote the majority of the 1st version himself

I've read what the other guy said, and he didn't say that, even going as far as to mention his Basic interpreter that he co-wrote with Paul Allen.
He said that Gates didn't write a single line of Windows 95 code, which he didn't.
