When I said PC I specifically meant "an IBM PC compatible machine", which isn't quite the same situation as MSX and, let's say, a C64. You could absolutely run Sam and Max in Windows as well, unless it was Windows NT, at the time.

Also i see the darkened lines on the left of your video input. That means it's trying to squeeze 75hz into 60 when capturing meaning most of your game captures are gonna be messed up. You might wanna look into the vga240 utility that forces a 60hz mode:

What a wonderful film. I'd say watching it more than once is a requirement. Second time one can really concentrate on all the delightful tiny details Anderson filled this movie with. This is my favorite film I've seen all year (so far).

I'd also like to point out that the game has no copy protection/CD check of any kind, and is only 23.5 megs in size. Nothing stopped anyone from installing it (full install was the only option), and then passing the CD around to a bunch of friends. Yet still a huge success.

Sure, although that wasn't the case here either. As James Boer points out in his making of article, he was freshly hired by WizardWorks as a programmer, and this was the first thing that landed in his lap. They wanted a shooting/hunting $20 game, and they wanted it in 3 months

Rebel Moon was an OEM-only game bundled with Creative Labs 3D Blaster PCI or VLB cards, and supported Rendition Speedy 3D and Creative Labs CGL apis. Many years later someone figured out that you can run it on whatever with a "-vga" parameter. A very fast Pentium is required.

You can configure DOSBox to use a modern Windows gamepad, BUT you'll need to create a brand new key mapper file and set "joystick" set to "enabled" in config. After that run DOSBox with -starmapper and assign joystick controls to your gamepad.
