I enjoy JB a bunch (idk what cut you've seen, but I think the director's cut is slightly more effective,) but it isn't nearly as strong or engageing. But JB *clearly* draws a lot of inspiration from Ginger Snaps. I honestly still can hardly believe GS exists in the 1st place.

I don't like Fox at all as an actress, but I think she fit well in JB, and did a good job. Mostly because it felt like they were playing to her strengths. I also can't quite pinpoint what is exactly wrong with JB. All the elements are there. Maybe needed a stronger director.

Yeah, when they released the blu-ray a few years ago it has tons of bts material, and it clearly shows that it was the spirit of a bunch of young people wanting to make a cool & new horror flick with very little money that drove all of that.

Idk. I'm mostly referring to the single height levels. No matter how many limbs one can shoot off, in the end the game is essentially little more than Wolfenstein 3D as far as maps are concerned, and that becomes boring/annoying quickly.
 Sat Jul 18 15:23:54 +0000 2020

It's that combined with the fact that they decided to "compensate" for it in level design by making things complicated with multiple buttons, timed doors, etc. It's really frustrating. Especially when combined with later bullet spongy enemies.

I wonder if there were more cases like this:
When Polish-developed turn-based tactical RPG "Gorky 17" (aka Odium in the US) got released in Russia, it got a proper localization first, but just a month later it was published *again* in a "comedy" translation as "Gorky 18".

Odium is just the US title. I don't know if there are any content differences with the European English-language release, but I don't think so.

And don't send me that clip of Bruce Campbell going "it's a re-quel". It doesn't disprove anything I'm saying. It's like saying Army of Darkness is a remake of Evil Dead 2 just because there's a recap upfront, not to mention an actual RETCON of an ED2's ending. 🤷‍♂️
 Mon Jul 27 21:20:14 +0000 2020

Replying to @RummazKnowsBest

There is no book in the second movie, only in the recap. That's why the plot point of Annie bringing extra pages with her is there, because the book is gone. The shorter recap is there just because it's shorter. His friends don't really figure into the plot of the sequel.
 Mon Jul 27 21:37:42 +0000 2020

Replying to @RummazKnowsBest

And the fact that it's the same plot? I mean, the plot is a bunch of people in a cabin getting possessed and picked off one by one. Yeah, it's not much of a plot, but... I mean the plot of most Friday the 13th movies isn't all that different from the 1st film either. 🤷‍♂️
 Mon Jul 27 21:38:58 +0000 2020

Replying to @RummazKnowsBest

Yeah, a lot of people didn't seem to understand that it's a recap, although I'm really not sure why because they RECREATE the ending of the first film in order to connect them. ED2 literally begins the second the first one ends. But that's why in AoD they added the narration.
 Mon Jul 27 21:43:25 +0000 2020

Replying to @RummazKnowsBest

Yeah, but I also feel like maybe if the people were *paying attention*. I sort of understand the confusion when it was in theaters years after the original that wasn't all that successful, but when it was on video and people usually owned both? I feel like that's mostly on them🤷‍♂️

I've stopped watching Resident Evil movies after the 3rd one, so I haven't seen the insanity that is the final battle scene of Resident Evil: Afterlife until just now. Haven't laughed so much in a long time. 🤣 Is Paul W. S. Anderson okay?
