Replying to @mcclure111
Now I'm intrigued, since I sort of gave up on Remedy games a while ago. Have you played Max Payne 1 or 2?
Replying to @dosnostalgic
Club Dread is not a bad movie, it just isn't a great slasher spoof because they though that setting up ridiculous premises for horror scenes and then playing them somewhat straight would be funny. But the thing is, horror films most often do have ridiculous setups as well.
Replying to @dosnostalgic
And then there isn't enough dick jokes in between these scenes to fill the usual Broken Lizard quota. I do appreciate the premise though. It's one of those films that you know a better movie could have been eventually been made if they developed it just a little bit further.
Replying to @dosnostalgic
I do feel like they learned their lessons and applied them in Beerfest, which functions well as both the underdog sports team movie spoof, and a college humor joke collection. Pretty much every scene is on point in both of those aspects, so there's that.

Naked Lunch is about being a writer, a very particular one.
I think it tries to examine people's relationship with videogames in a same way Videodrome did it with television/video, and it sets up interesting themes like the designer's relationship with a game, roleplaying a character completely different from one self, fandom, piracy, etc https://x.com/MasterBismuth/status/1174870461597081600

Replying to @hyphybyterhymer
I was talking mostly about cases where final mix would be on video instead of film.
Replying to @rioterse
I assume if there was enough effects work done (which often was the case during the time), then the master would only exist on video, and the only way to get that to 4K would be to redo all the effects.
Replying to @dosnostalgic
Elaborating on this: yes, I know film is very 4K friendly :) My point was specifically about the 90s when post processing and effects would only be done on video. Those would require redoing all of that on top of a usual scan & color correction. Nobody is gonna do that.
Replying to @dosnostalgic
I'm still surprised that they redid ALL the effects for the new X-Files remasters though, so I guess if there's money in it, someone will do it eventually.

Things I hate about Control: one save slot. A friend came over and I couldn't show them the cool opening because that would have restarted my game. Why?
Replying to @dosnostalgic
I hate checkpoints too, but the effect is somewhat softened by the fact that while the level has to reload in its entirety every time, everything else stays. Enemies are killed, items are collected, switches turned on, etc. So at that point you just run to where you left off.
Replying to @dosnostalgic
Which in itself then makes me ask the question: why the fuck can't I directly save at any moment if all the states are saved anyway? Is it really because they needed to reload all the destroyed environment?
