Hello
It's really annoying that half of commercial VR games don't go any further than handing you a GUN.
Replying to @dosnostalgic
I dream of 90s Macromedia era repeating itself in VR, but of course that's not exactly possible for several reasons.
Replying to @dosnostalgic
The main one is VR dev is incredibly difficult, while Macromedia Director was relatively easy, and together with arrival of CD-ROM and multimedia craze opened the world of computer product dev to people who *didn't* have background in gamers.
Replying to @dosnostalgic
VR games currently suffer because we try to shoehorn the existing genres into it, and mostly they just don't work in that medium.
Replying to @dosnostalgic
Having said that, I fucking *adore* Superhot VR. That's a game with a gun that does it right. Because the way it requires interaction is impossible outside of VR.

I agree. While sharing similar design sensibilities (I guess something was in the Mac water around that time, or maybe that's just when all these accessible tools were released,) but imo it's a superior game in pretty every aspect. https://x.com/lewellyn/status/1045747809733894144
Replying to @dosnostalgic
Not knocking Myst (actually, yes, I am,) but it's the world of the game (that wasn't even all that developed till later games) that's actually cool, not any of the lever pulling that you have to do for 10 hours.

As someone who lived through 90s Russia all I have to say (again) is: what you really should be concerned with is what the current events are paving the way to. It is *not* gonna be good. At all. I'm sorry.

Gotta participate in opposition, while you still can. Vote, while it still counts.
I'll consider it, but the game is near impossible even *with* a walkthrough. https://t.co/eZQjLpOMks
Sound Blaster Live! is a great card to have in a retro Windows machine, but its AdLib substitute is just abhorrent.

I really need to keep up with modern DOS enhancements. Stumbled onto a bunch of new stuff that is extremely useful that I didn't even know existed, just because I never thought that it would exist.
Replying to @dosnostalgic
Disabling CPU cache to pretty much make a 386 out of your P4? Yep.
Forcing a 60 Hz refresh rate on VGA instead of 70 Hz for easy modern day video capture? Yep.
Doing some black magic on a video card & almost doubling the performance in some cases? Yep
