A few years ago I was asked to take a look at someone's dying machine, and they had a 50 Hz CRT monitor for some reason, and I swear to you I could see the screen refresh with my own eyes. It was painful to even glance at it.

Another point to consider is that the new restoration of Aliens has changed the color timing completely, has many new sound effects, and many "mistakes" fixed in the blu-ray version. So, in a way, the film isn't available in the same form it was 20 years ago.
