Films from that period never were this heavy on teal. This is a rather modern thing. New video masters are still color corrected afterwards, just these days normally they are also modernized in this way, something I don't like, but seems to be generally the norm.

Right. I was talking about two different things. Overall the movie DOESN'T have the red push, which was more obvious in bright scenes before. Separately, the blue tinted scenes now have MORE blue push to them, to the extent that shadows are blue instead of black.

Sorry to tag onto this so late, but this is incorrect. First version of Visual Basic was out for Windows in 91, DOS TUI version followed in 1992, around the time VB 2 dropped, and it's also named "1.0" because the product is called VB for DOS, and that was the only version of it.

So the deleted scenes are worth watching. Nothing too special, as they are mostly extended bits of existing scenes (therefore it isn't actually 50 min of new material,) but some are pretty interesting nonetheless.

So it looks like it's sourced from the same master as the 30th Anniversary edition, but Criterion handled the compression & such. I think this version doesn't have any DNR applied, and therefore looks a bit better. Plus you get a mono audio track.

Redneck Rampage sequel RR Rides Again came out in 1998. It was actually quite an improvement on the original game that I don't think many people got to play. I recommend it. It's on GOG.

I think it's worth noting that Gates was involved with Sierra all the way through 1998, when SWAT 2 came out. His name wasn't on the box this time, but he was featured very prominently in the game. Sales of PQ4 & SWAT must have been fine despite the backlash then.

Try to watch TOD with a new attitude. Think of it essentially as a Raiders follow up which wanted to subvert things, instead of doing more of the same. Which WAS the idea, and they pulled it off. Turned out the audiences didn't want that thought. But I loved it.

No they weren't all of those are pretty decent ports. Dune, especially, is a PC game first & foremost, and the Amiga version lost a bunch of stuff.

Amiga versions of Dune and Dune 2 both have to stick to 64 colors instead of 256, and both loose their originally intended music. Dune 1 also has some serious art simplifications on the Amiga.

Here's "Hen, His Wife" by Igor Kovalyov from 1990. A sad and surreal story. A great example of late Soviet animation for adults. Be warned: it is NOT easy to take in. A highly original and impressive piece of work

Igor Kovalyov then spent the next 20 years working for Klasky Csupo, and took part in Duckman, Rugrats, and AAH! Real Monsters among others. I think his input is fairly obvious.

There's a lot of Soviet animation that is kid friendly, but Soviets also developed an "animation for adults" thing fairly early on. During the rather depressing times of the 80s and 90s the two began to mix quite a lot.

It's the other way around. A lot of people who worked on Soviet cartoons went on to work on others stuff afterwards, and that other stuff turned out to be more famous and influential.
