Ok, started Heart of Darkness on PSX via ePSXe. So far it's absolutely identical.
The game's presentation is so fantastic. Incredible animation, beautiful orchestral score, and the SOUND, it really strands out so much.
I just wish you could skip those super long cutscenes >:(
Ok, so the in game sound seems to be in a lesser quality in the PSX version. And the video backgrounds are more compressed.
At the same time you don't get the annoying palette shift blink that gives away a full screen animation in the PSX version. That's better.
Windows on the left, PSX on the right
PSX version is heavy on compression artifacts

Replying to @frederik_olsen
I played it since the moment it was released, but it took me years to learn to appreciate how truly great Quake is.
Replying to @frederik_olsen
That's what everyone hates about Quake. Still. But if you actually play the game it clearly works. Very oppressive at times.
Replying to @frederik_olsen
Quake is a very unique game. There are so many aspects of it that have never been repeated.
Replying to @frederik_olsen
You haven't seen nothing yet. Although I do have to say that the second episode is my least favorite.
Replying to @frederik_olsen
Don't skip it. Each episode is worth checking out because they were essentially designed by different people.
Replying to @frederik_olsen
In a way that's one of Quake's shortcomings: there's no unified theme. Second episode is more futuristic-military thing.
Replying to @frederik_olsen
I was mistaken. The majority of episode 2 looks like this. Only the first level is futuristic.
Replying to @frederik_olsen and @saltyhorse
If you're using DarkPlaces, you have an option to interpolate the animations.

Ok, System Shock reboot. Didn't we recently discuss that characters looking at their hands is dumb? Don't do it just because Doom 2016 did.
I do like the game's look. It doesn't try to be System Shock 2. It's colorful and weird.
Normally I don't like it when every surface looks like it's covered in jello, but it seems really fitting here for some reason.
Ok, I'm definitely not a fan of this. Pushing buttons in first person is annoying.

No it doesn't. It pops up in the bottom left corner of the ui and you're clicking on it with a mouse pointer. Same in SS2.
Replying to @predo111
But this is not SS2. I've noticed that they are sticking to the colors of the original game as well.
