Big thanks to @baddMoj0 for pointing out that John Carpenter scored a PSX/Windows game Sentinel Returns http://youtu.be/9I7p1ANu_j8 Good stuff!

Ecstatica is a great game. I really want to review it, but that would mean playing though the whole thing.
It's not a long game, but it can be pretty unforgiving sometimes. And a bit random too.
I can finish Alone in the Dark in no time with my eyes closed, but I can't do that with Ecstatica.

You should play Ecstatica. Don't be deceived by its cutesy looks. You'll get your ass kicked. #DOSGaming
It's very dark and difficult, but also very rewarding. The whole game is basically exploration. And getting your ass kicked.

I actually think that's what makes Ecstatica so special: you need to explore its world, but you're rather helpless. And beatings are graphic

So I finally watched From Bedrooms to Billions last night & I recommend you watch it too. http://www.frombedroomstobillions.com/
I ESPECIALLY recommend it to American retro game people. Video game history is VERY different outside US. UK is a prime example.
Often people just assume that everyone grew up with Mario, Link and Metroid, but many actually grew up with Miner Willy, Monty Mole, & Dizzy
The documentary is a bit pricey though. Special Edition is $50. Bonus materials weren't worth extra money in my opinion.
And the making of Manic Miner almost made me cry. I can't watch what Matthew Smith has turned into. :(
I watched the downloads in high definition. The quality was great, even though interview volume levels vary throughout.
I've been told that the blu-ray has mastering levels, so there it is. But it's the SAME price for the blu-ray OR steam/download.
Yeah, $50 for no physical media. I think that's expensive.
The people behind this doc are gathering funds for a sequel that will concentrate on the Amiga. I'll watch it.
So yeah, From Bedrooms to Billions gets my recommendation despite its high price.

A few thoughts from last night: I know the "is Win3.1/3.11 a real OS?" debate has been going on for a very long time. I happen to think YES.
In many way it's arguing semantics. It all depends on your belief of that an OS actually is.
However, I will always argue against "Oh, it's just a GUI for DOS" because, oh boy, it is NOT.
It's not DOSShell or X-Windows.
Replying to @expectproblems
Honestly it's more than that. It's own I/O, drivers, multitaksing, EXE format, memory management, etc.

I recommend Battle Isle games and Incubation. I'd say start with BI 2.
