Normality is a fun game. Not the best adventure game, but not the worst. Being 3D & ridiculously 90s is a plus in my book.
You can get Normality for $6 on GOG http://www.gog.com/game/normality It's the more annoying UK version, but look in the forums - there's a fan patch.
Also get Realms of the Haunting while you're at it http://www.gog.com/game/realms_of_the_haunting Same technology put to very different use
It's kind of a bummer that we didn't get that many first person 3D adventures or adventure/fps blends back in the day.
Strange because Freescape games sort of did that in a simplest way. You'd think that concept would evolve in the 90s.
Realms of the Haunting is essentially the only fps-adventure hybrid. And its fps are not the greatest.

Hmmm... The very first DOS release of Mortal Kombat can be buggy sometimes.
Eventually an updated version of Mortal Kombat was published. Corrected bugs, less choppiness, better sound support
A year or so after that, a super limited DOS MK1+2 was publihsed. MK1 was arcade perfect.
I hear that it's the version included with GOG package, but I can't confirm. I bought MK games so many times, I can't justify spending more.
Kind of a bummer that they didn't update MK2 for that release. Especially considering that the best port of MK3 is also for DOS.

So last night I recorded pretty much 3/4 of Goblins 2 as I was playing it. Might as well turn in into a let's play.
Regarding Goblins 2: playing it again is a delight, but Kitchen & Throne Room levels are still fucking ridiculous.
However, I still don't believe it when people say they have more trouble with Goblins 2 than Goblins 3. How? It's rather straightforward.

Replying to @dosnostalgic
.@RetroYak Absolutely not. Just like one can appreciate other media from before one was born.
Something like that is just silly. I can appreciate Casablanca. Or be engrossed in All Quiet on the Western Front.
So it's entirely possible for someone to enjoy Super Mario Bros., DOOM, Mortal Kombat and other games.
It's also very possible to appreciate something more when you learn about historical context of when it was created.
Not every kid would enjoy Wolfenstein 3D, for example, but it certainly can be appreciated while learning about FPS history & technology.
Something doesn't have to be dropped on one for one to appreciate it. One can also discover things.
Btw, I picked Wolf 3D just because it's an easy example of a breakthrough game that didn't age that well because of its tech limitations.
See also: Pong.
Wolfenstein 3D offers less variety than, let's say, Super Mario Bros.

Looking through the list. Yeah, pretty fair. A handful of decent movies got nominated & took all the awards. No surprises.
So played a bit of Captain Blood last night to refresh my memory. Now that I played through the sequel I have some questions:
All online descriptions of the game say that Captain Blood's real name is Bob Morlock, but in the manual it says that no one knows his name.
Bob Morlock is an ancient creature in the sequel that just want you to get him to the Big Bang. He might have created Commander himself ???
For those who don't know, the story of Captain Blood is this: You're a game designer known by your nickname Captain Blood, you've created...
... a space adventure game, you get sucked into it, now you're losing your humanity because 5 duplicates of you were created and...
... scattered around the universe. You need to find them and destroy them. If you spend more that two & a half hours of REAL time looking...
... for each one, you turn into a robot and it's game over. Man, Philippe Ulrich was smoking some good shit!

So I played a bit of DOS Earthworm Jim last night. Actually gives you an option to play in 320x244 if your card can handle it.
Replying to @JDHJANUS
You've been missed, Josh!
Default control setup in DOS Earthworm Jim is Left Control, Shift & Tab, but ENTER to fire a weapon? Who thought that was a good idea?!
Replying to @demodulated
Well, not on Genesis :)
Controls in DOS EWJ are honestly not as bad as people say, but it seems to me that whipping is very stiff. I had trouble even in level 1.

Replying to @TexTweetz
You don't need to do that to dick around with things. I'm gonna use QuickBasic.
People, you don't need to learn assembler to fuck around with rudimentary computer programming!
Get QuickBasic. You've got POKE, PEEK, OUT, INP, and CALL INTERRUPT. That's pretty much all you need.
Do some reading and program something in QuickBasic that controls something on a lower level. Just for fun. It's very rewarding.
Replying to @evilmiera
Basic is easier. QBasic is ideal for quick fucking around with things.
Replying to @evilmiera
Basic is called basic for a reason. It doesn't get much respect, but honestly you can easily learn it in an afternoon.
