I'd say this is somewhat valid, BUT if you were a creator of a game that you didn't hold rights to, wouldn't you want your creation at...
... least be available on a modern platform & be a bit more disvoberable & playable then a old download on a website that would require...

In terms of Coktel it's almost always better to pick the floppy version.
Replying to @DevarArcvarron
And I usually stick with floppy version of games that were originally distributed as floppy games as well.
Replying to @DevarArcvarron
A lot of these "improvements" in the early days meant atrocious voice acting or shitty FMV instead of beautiful animations.

More so in the sequels. In the first one everything is okay. Just the two bosses are seriously overpowered.

Replying to @demodulated
Problem with 3: AI is super dumb and shared between all players, but it can pull off moves and combos instantly, which is a
Replying to @demodulated
real pain in the ass. And of course Trilogy only makes it worse. Fuck that one. Live player only.

Replying to @ldavet

Library comes with an extensive documentation and an example game as well.
Also game reviews, articles about gaming in general, sound card reviews. All circa 1995.

Oh look, Retro Gamer decided to shine its grace on pc gaming.
I guess they ran out of interviews with Jon Ritman or something.
Yes, I'm bitter. The fact that world's #1 retro gaming mag ignores DOS/pc gaming is very upsetting.
I've been reading Retro Gamer since 2004, but stopped a couple of years ago because I've grown tired of it covering the same things.
So many cool former DOS devs in the UK, interview a few!

Am I not talking about DOS games enough lately?
So yeah, DOS games. Fuckin' love 'em. There you go.
You know what I love? Well, DOS games, but you know what else? Watching evolution of 3D in DOS games.
It's amazing to see simple wireframe 3D on the earliest machines. Then moving in onto filled shapes. The different kinds of shading.
Personally these are the kinds of games I enjoy looking at the most. Still no textures, but sophisticated enough to have complex geometry.
Of course seeing evolution of textured stuff is also pretty cool. Like Ultima Underworld is absolutely mindblowing.
Replying to @GrundislavGames
I said "loves"
Replying to @GrundislavGames
I just wanna laugh in someone's face.
Seeing mid 90s stuff with fully 3D textured low poly models is pure magic. Sometimes these games were rather ugly, but I didn't care.
3D games that always impressed me: Indy 500, Castle Master, Alpha Waves, Ultima Underworld, Daggerfall, Quake.
Fuck, forgot Frontier: Elite 2.
See also: voxels.
Replying to @rhyder
I still love Ken's voxels.
I also love sprites in 3D environments. Just something about them.
Probably the scaling.
One thing I do hate is spirited rendered as surfaces, so you could actually tell they were flat. In DOS era Bethesda games did that.
Replying to @jennatar
