Good morning Internet! For today's #MorningDOSTalk I'd like to talk about genre I know almost nothing about - RPG
It's very easy to explain why I wasn't into RPGs if you take my background into consideration: I grew up in post-Soviet Russia...
In the early days rpgs often required you consulting huge manuals, yet I lived in the country where everything, but manuals got pirated.
Also, my English was non-existent. That was a big stumbling block. Hell, I even played the first Monkey Island with a dictionary.
I always liked the Ultima series though. Ultima 7 is an absolutely amazing game.
Of course there's also the Quest for Glory series that I love, but let's face it, it much more adventure than RPG.

Not at all. I like a bunch of Epic games. ZZT, Epic Pinball, Brix and other stuff.
So... Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter is actually a pretty decent popcorn flick! If I was 15 I would have loved it and asked for more.
It weirdly combines a serious delivery of the sorry with ridiculous action pieces. I mean a guy throws a horse at Abe at one point!
Sorry = story. Writing is pretty lazy though and it feels like there are some scenes missing with added narration to fix new holes.

Good morning twitter! How's everyone doing today? Anyone awake? How about some #MorningDOSTalk then?
Remember games that introduced you to a certain genre? What were your first impressions? #MorningDOSTalk
I distinctly remember my first time playing Dune 2. The intro got me already and then the first mission happened. I remember feeling lost.
I was playing with my friend who showed me the controls and by the time my units were shooting at the enemy I was sold.
That started my interest in RTS games that lasted through all of the 90s. #Dune2

that would be awesome, but rather unlikely considering the game's Game Maker origin.
Grand Prix Circuit was the first racing game I played. I was amazed by the realism for some reason. My, how far we've come.
Replying to @AveTory
Thief 2 has better levels, although I still like the first one more. Probably because it was so new. Like the story too.
Replying to @djbriandamage
Why? There were a lot of cool RTS games in the 90s.
Replying to @AveTory
I don't even remember what the Gold levels are since I only played TG once.
Unfortunately I can't remember what my first adventure game was exactly, because I was introduced to them by a friend who had...

There is a Russian company Gamos, that got its start making only puzzle games in the early 90s. All pretty awesome games. Very popular.
And of course there's Supaplex. My personal favorite amongst many Boulder Dash clones. Hours of hardcore, frustrating and hairpulling fun.
Anyone remember Boston Bomb Club by Silmarils? Was it any good? Haven't played it in about 20 years.

I don't remember paying for Russian Roulette 2. Must have been a gift. The most underrated and ambitious Russian game.

Dear followers, a poll: Commander Keen or Dizzy? #GameVSGame
RT @gruz: @dosnostalgic Keen! Keen! Keen!
Damn. I don't even know what I tried to prove with that poll. Most of my followers are PC people. There are like 3 classic Dizzy games on pc
Replying to @richardcobbett
I meant in a classic Dizzy genre, rather than shit like Fast Food and the like.

I have British followers here. Most of yolkfolk dot com people. And once again they let me down.
Yes, I talk shit about a lot of classic games, but my heart melts when I see a smiling egg in boxing gloves. That's me. #RollDizzyRoll

It might be in part due to remake of Dizzy 6 coming out recently and it being shit. Also, give it time.

Just saw Life of Pi. A rather neat flick. Now I'm happy that Jeunet didn't do it, because it would have ended up a lot less serious.
